Time to pack!

The challenge is now very close!

Today has been spent cleaning up the bike, packing what seems like enough clothes for 3 weeks rather than 3 days, and charging up all the bike lights, GPS watches and Sat navs and mobile phones.

Everything is now in boxes ready to be loaded into the van tomorrow morning.

The good thing about packing a day early, is that it allows time for all the last minute things we have forgotten to pack... I saw we... I actually mean Mark who is going to have to send Fiona down in the morning with his last few bits for the van.

Thanks so much to everyone who has already sponsored us... if you would like to, then please visit our justgiving website http://www.justgiving.com/3peakcycle

Went for a 10 mile walk today to complete all the training. A nice hilly walk round Ditchling the finest hills that Sussex has to offer even if they are only 250m high a little shorter than Ben Nevis they offered some steep sections. Lovely weather so the traditional sunburn of course.

Was suitably entertained by Nicky's use of the walking poles, which we were practising with. The coordination was ... er... interesting and it was educational, I will be giving her a wide berth on the mountains. Fortunately her feet will be clipped into the pedals when cycling! Pleased I was more coordinated with the poles and only stabbed myself three times!

Time to start packing most of which seems to be food!

Latest

My training has gone well too although my longest ride was 100 miles which is a way short of the 2 days we have to hit 160 miles plus. I'm consoling myself with the fact that if you train for a marathon at 26.2 miles then the longest training run is only arouns 22 miles, I hope this logic works for cycling as well.
Had a recent sports massge and have another on Monday which eases out the aches and pains but is far from relaxing! My physio was explaining the benefits of imagining my legs completing a full circle as opposed to just pushing down from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock - i.e pull up as well. I put this into practice on a long ride recently and promptly nearly cramped up on my upper thighs so the 'full circle' thing ain't quire ready.
Is it possible to be looking forward to the ride but at the same time be scared shitless?

Completed final training ride successfully, though did feel a tad tired at the end. Not been helped by this cold which makes breathing an optional extra. However, the bonus is that there is no need to ring my bell to let others know I am coming the subtle coughing has worked well.

Nice to end the training on a nice sunny day. Started to look at weather for challenge, yesterday they were reporting sun all days leading up to the start, today they forecast rain, how can it change so much.

Still no early cycle ride for me tomorrow so I can have a lie in. Unfortunately we start at 3am on the first day of the challenge so need all the sleep I can get!

6 days to go!

Wow, the challenge really is getting close now!

As Mark's comment says to the last post, we have found out that I don't mix that well with horse riders who feel the need to lecture me about bike/horse etiquette, but I am pleased to say that Wednesdays ride was far better... is this because I didn't see any horses??

So that is all my cycle training complete as today I am off to my graduation and I decided the cycle helmet didn't really go with my dress. Mark is completing his final bike ride today, and hopefully Fozzie's training is going well too.

Tomorrow I will go to my final bootcamp and spin session, then Mark, his family and I plan to go for a walk on Satuday, then that will be it. A few days to rest before the actual challenge!

Right back to the hair straigtening etc before graduation!

Final training

9 days until our challenge, so I can safely say we are into our final training week.

The fundraising has started as our justgiving page is now live (www.justgiving.com/3peakcycle) and we have now placed our final orders for the equipment we think we will need to complete the challenge.

We are just trying to get rid of the last bugs and and minor injury niggles... and then we shall hide ourselves away until the challenge.

We are hoping the weather will stay like this, as sunshine would be so nice for the challenge!!
